NATIONAL Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) celebrated the ‘2024 Olympic Day Run’ with sports federations at Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) today.
President of NOCSI, Martin Rara speaking during the opening of the ‘2024 Olympic Day Run’ this morning said it is an honour to address this joyous occasion to celebrate the spirit of the Olympic Games and the incredible power of sports in bringing people from different backgrounds together.

Embracing the powerful theme for Olympic Day Run – “Let’s move and celebrate”, the NOCSI President said these four simple words encapsulate the essence of what the Olympics is all about.
“Movement, passion and unity. They remind us that regardless of our nationality, age, gender or abilities, we all have the power to move and celebrate,” said Rara.
“The Olympic Games have always been a testament to the resilience and determination of athletes. They showcase the indomitable spirt of human potential and the power of dreams. Athletes from every corner of the world train rigorously, pushing their limits, defying odds, and striving for excellence. Through their dedication, they inspire us to embrace our own abilities and strive for greatness, both and off the field.
“But the Olympics are not just about the athletes, they belong to all of us. They ignite a spark within each of us, reminding us that we too can achieve greatness. The Olympics are an invitation for each one of us to celebrate our own unique talents, abilities and achievements. It is a call to action, compelling us to move, create and excel in our own ways.
“Today, as we participate in the Olympic Day Run, let us remember that movement is not just about physical activity. President Rara elaborate that today is an opportunity to gather together, purposely to celebrate the love for sports. This include to honour the incredible legacy of the Olympic Games.
“Let us move in unison, spreading the joy and enthusiasm that only sports can bring. Today we celebrate not only the athletes but also the countless individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Olympic Games possible,” said Rara.
“As we embark on the ‘Olympic Day Run’, let us remember that the power to move and celebrate resides within each one of us. Let us embrace our individual talents, push our limits and celebrate our collective achievements. By doing so, we honour the true spirit of the Olympic Games and inspire generations to come.”
Marking the ‘2024 Olympic Day Run’ today at the High-Performance Centre involved sports activities organized by SINIS Performance Service Teams, on which sports athletes and coaches enjoyed.
