SOLOMON Islands’ PREMIERE automotive distributor, Ela Motors, have shown their support towards Solomon Islands’ People with disability (PWD) with the handing over of a High Ease Mobility Bus at their headquarters in Ranadi.
The vehicle will be used to transport participants with disabilities during the two weeks of games.
Upon receiving the new vehicle GOC’s Transport Service Supervisor Anthony Bugotu thanked the Ela Motors for facilitating the vehicle for these very special group of athletes.
“It’s a very big achievement for our country to finally recognize this group of athletes who we often overlook their basic needs with the main one being transport “.
“These vehicles will mainly be used to transport our para-athletes during the two weeks of the games, and we the transport team are very happy to be transporting them in a comfortable and safe manner from the games venues to villages”.
Bugotu also added that the donations will also help boost the morale of the disability participants as they prepare to represent the country.
Ela Motors Sales Manager Marcella Streeter expressed pride with the company’s support in supplying the vehicle towards the Sol2023 Pacific Games especially for the Para-Athletes.
“We are really happy and excited that we can contribute towards the country’s hosting of the 17th Pacific Games”.
“This High Ease Mobility Bus caters for four people with disabilities, it has two carer seats at the back, another one in front plus the driver”, she added.
With the less than a month left to go before Honiara plays host to one of the region’s biggest sporting events, GOC is expecting the arrival of some more busses which are to be used for the games.
