THE Get Into Rugby Festival organized by Solomon Rugby successfully concluded after two days of exciting rugby action, development activities, and fun-filled engagement for young players.
As part of Solomon Rugby’s development pathway, the festival introduced children to the sport while strengthening rugby’s five core values: Discipline, Respect, Integrity, Passion, and Solidarity.
A total of eight schools and one community group, Pikinini Rugby House, participated in the festival, bringing together more than 400 children eager to learn and enjoy the game. Throughout the two days, participants engaged in warm-ups, fun activities, and tag rugby, fostering teamwork and enthusiasm for the sport.
To further encourage participation and development, Solomon Rugby distributed rugby balls and jerseys to schools, ensuring they have the necessary gear to continue their rugby journey beyond the festival.
“We are happy with the interest and energy shown by all the children over the past two days,” said David Siapu, GIR coordinator of Solomon Rugby. “This festival is an important part of our development pathway and we hope to see many of these young players continue their journey in rugby.”
The Get Into Rugby Festival is one of Solomon Rugby’s ongoing initiatives aimed at growing the sport across Schools and communities, creating opportunities for young players, and building rugby in the Solomon Islands.
