THE Futsalroos, the national futsal team of Australia, are thrilled to be in the Solomon Islands and are eager to take part in this week’s 2024 PacificAus Sports Futsal Series in Honiara.
At today’s pre-match press conference at the SIFF Academy in east Honiara between the Australian national futsal team Futsalroos and the Solomon Islands national futsal team Kurukuru, Futsalroos Head Coach Miles Downie said the team is eager to grow as a unit.
According to Downie, they’re hoping that this series will provide them the chance to play international matches and gain more experience for his players.
“It is exciting for us to be part of the new project and to see young players who have this big opportunity to show themselves. I am sure we are going to see some exciting games coming up, and it’s a real honor to be part of your new project, and we are looking forward to seeing you guys at the World Cup to come,” he said.
He said the hospitality was very good, and they are looking forward to more visits to the Solomon Islands.
The 2024 PacificAus Sports Futsal series is proof of the partnership between Football Australia and the Solomon Islands Football Federation, which has been growing steadily thanks to the Australian Government’s strong support, which is provided through PacificAus Sports.
The International Futsal series match days are Wednesday 21 February, Friday 23 February, and Sunday 25 February, at 6pm local time.
