THE partnership between the Pacific Games Organizing Committee (GOC) and the Solomon Islands Water Authority (Solomon Water) is crucial to the successful delivery of the 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands this year.
Solomon Water was last week (Friday 27th January, 2023) officially unveiled a Silver Partner Sponsor of the Sol2023 Pacific Games.
The sponsorship valued at SBD $4million caters for infrastructural design and development, as well as the provision of free water and wastewater services to Games facilities.
GOC Board Chair; Martin Rara welcomed Solomon Water’s support and sponsorship – labelling it a timely and significant one that is vital to successfully delivering Sol2023 Pacific Games.
“We are indeed proud to have Solomon Water onboard with us – a partnership that is vital toward delivering a successful Games.”
“Water is an essential aspect of Games delivery. No Games can run without sufficient water supply.
“Water is and will remain the most important and necessary aspect of hosting any Games. It is important to the welfare of athletes and team officials and most importantly to planning and organizing of sports competitions.”
Mr Rara added that to have Solomon Water already designing, developing infrastructure and providing free water and wastewater services for the Games less than 10 months away from Games time is an added bonus.
“This sponsorship helps us deal with the challenges of providing sufficient water at the Games 10 months out from the start of the Games.
“The Games is indeed happy to have Solomon Water stand alongside GOC in delivering 24 sports for 24 countries and territories (including Australia and New Zealand) this year’s Games.
Meanwhile the Sol2023 Pacific Games will be held between 19 November to 2nd December this year with a total of 5000 plus athletes and officials expected to be in Honiara for the event.
