Honiara, 4th March 2022 – An overwhelming number of potential partners were part of the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) High–Performance inaugural ‘Partnership Event’ on Thursday 3rd March 2022.
SINIS Wellbeing & Lifestyle Performance team together with the People & Partnership department established the initiative to promote the programs and services at SINIS to highlight the support from a holistic approach for athletes and coaches.
In his opening brief remarks SINIS Executive Director Aaron Alsop highlighted that from over number of different organisations and institutions engaged through the event, SINIS management is humbled by the overwhelming interest.
“The growing interest in understanding the role and function of SINIS in leading the country’s high-performance programs shows us that the community have a vested interest in seeing the athletes and coaches become successful,” Alsop said.
“Along with the strong relationships we are growing with National Federations, it’s important that we continue to collaborate with local organisations and institutions to strengthen the national sport system in Solomon Islands. Its pleasing to see the connections organisations are making with how our strategy aligns to their betterment of the community.
South Pacific Oil (SPO) Human Resource Manager Alick Billy one of the event attendees reflected that the initiative is a significant approach to promote a legacy for sportsmen & women in the country.
“It’s inspiring. For me representing a company and from an outside perspective, we only see that SINIS is only for preparations towards Sol2023 Pacific Games. But through this event we identify the impacts High – Performance programs will be offering not only as an athlete but empowering good citizens,” Billy stated.
“SINIS legacy is beyond the games, and we at SPOL are looking forward to building a partnership through ways we can make sure these High – Performance services are implemented and successful. It will be a platform to breed, develop athletes, and at the same his/her personal life within the community and the country as a whole.
Billy further adds that such a concept in sports development has been left out, but through the establishment of SINIS he believes that it’s time for businesses, organizations, communities to get to recognize it and also as a platform to deliver economic benefits.
“This will not only bring pride through sport, but the replication it signifies through the community as an individual and families, and that’s inspiring,” Billy concludes.
