In a stunning display of football over the weekend, Honiara City United made a comeback from 2 goals down to shared the spoils with Vfresh Isabel United in a 2-all draw on Saturday.
Isabel United leads Honiara city in the first 45 minutes in their opening match of the second weekend of TSL matches at Lawson Tama stadium on 12 June.
City who lost 4-1 to Laugu FC United in their first match this season, level the score lines to a 2 all draw before the final whistle in the first game of match week two.
In an interview with Honiara City Head Coach Mr Jerry Allen, the team has responded well according to their game plan, enabling them to stage the comeback in the second half.
“I thank them for the fighting spirit they had. They scored against us because we lost concentration, but then we come back, bounce back in a way that we get organized to level the scoreline and it happened,’’ he said.
The City Head Coach said they put pressure on their opponent’s defence line and capitalised on height and speed.
“This is where we attack from – to penetrate and score our two equalizing goals, we use height and speed.
When asked what areas his boys should improve on before the next upcoming game this weekend, he said it’s the finishing that they need to improve on.
“We had a lot of chances in the dying minutes but the boys did not manage to convert it, but it’s something to improve on. We have to work hard, because every day, minute, second is different, new challenges.
“We will take one game at a time because we have many new boys – most were old players.
“Almost eight were transferred from the club to other clubs for this season but I have to accept it-its football. Most played today (Saturday 12-06-21) are Under-19 boys.
“I urged the boys to step up and performed to their best and they had followed the game plan really well, they are really understand what I had told them, and for this we managed to make a draw today,’’ he said.
Jerry Allen told Raw Sports that they have to keep on improving and maintain their efforts to face the remaining matches. He added that the game result moves them a step forward in achieving their game plan.
Honiara City FC will take on debutans, Kula FC on Sunday this week.
