THIS week of November 2022, the Judo Federation of Solomon Islands visited schools in Honiara under their roll-out program, which kicked off from 7 to 11 November.
The program which is aimed to reach six schools in Honiara was designed to deliver physical, social, and cognitive development aspects of judo as a martial art sport to school children.
Judo Coach and Sports Development Officer, Tony Lomo told RAW SPORTS that the week-long program focuses on promoting judo as a martial art sport to students in the country.

He described judo as an ideal combat sport that deals not only with self-defense but a healthy lifestyle and character building.
“The significance of promoting the sport in schools is to create awareness and opportunity for school children to grow their knowledge and interest about judo,” Tony said.
The six schools are Vura School, Naha School, Saint John School, Saint Nicholas School, Norman Palmer School, Lunga School, and Elite School.
Meanwhile, the members of the Judo Federation of Solomon Islands (JFSI) led by Tony Lomo initially kicked off their visitation program on Monday (7 November 2022) at the Vura Primary school.
Tony expressed his gratitude to all students and staff of Vura School, especially for an overwhelming turnout during the initial roll-out program.
“It was a positive turn-out and it has signified that students are keen to learn more about the sport, therefore, I want to thank the school administration for making the roll-out program more than possible,” he said.
