MARIST Women’s Football Club coach says he is seriously looking into recruiting former footballers of the club due to poor results at this year’s Solrais Women’s Premier League.
Head Coach Joseph Afiti said despite performing well in the previous matches in the initial stages of this year’s (first round) Solrais Women’s Premier League, it is rather disappointing to observe key players’ poor attendance during keys scheduled matches and training sessions.
“The club’s current women players are mostly comprised of school students, who are often not committed to attend important matches and training sessions due to their commitment to school-related academic activities.
“It’s important that club players must maintain a high-level commitment and discipline towards the club’s key objective in this year’s second round of the women’s domestic league of competition.
“We cannot afford to accumulate more disappointing results, however, we need to come up with a promising solution to address the challenges faced by the club,” Joseph told Raw Sports.
He said for now they cannot afford to repeat the same mistake, however, the club is eyeing to return its old players to participate in the second round of this year’s Women’s Premier League.
“I am confident to re-engage eight to nine former players; the new inclusions will be a big boost and an added value in our new starting line-up in this year’s second round of the Solrais Women’s Premier League.
“I have already received positive and satisfactory responses from former players who have said they are willing to reengage their time and commitment with the club.
Over the weekend, the Marist FC accumulated another loss to Haura FC 0-3 at the DC Park pitch, East of Honiara.
The club currently sits on the eighth spot of this year’s round-one of the Solrais Women’s Premier League.
