CENTRAL Coast FC Head Coach Jacob Moli has been appointed to take up the interim role as the National Team Head Coach for the OFC Nations Cup 2024 in Vanuatu.
Moli is no stranger, has led the national side from 2011 to 2014 and his reappointment for the top job came following the unavailability of the initial appointment of caretaker coach, Eddie Marahare.
For Moli, the job comes with great responsibility as he will be the one calling the shots again.
“It’s always an honour to coach the national team,” Moli told SIFF Media.
“Throughout the past weeks working with the players available they have shown enthusiasm and I trust in their capabilities to deliver.
Moli has currently working with a train-on squad throughout the past 4 weeks and will be announcing his final 23-man squad in a week.
He said that despite the limited period to work with the players available in the train-on squad he is confident to take on the challenges ahead.
“It’s quite a challenging process, especially given the duration to work with the team but these players are experienced in that level of competition and now is to continue with that culture.
Moli will be assisted by Stanley Waita who has remained in the post since the departure of former head coach Felipe Vega-Arango.
SIFF continue its hunt for a National Head Coach through its recruitment process, and hopefully for a suitable candidate before the OFC World Cup Qualifiers in October.
