JACOB Moli expressed disappointment after Central Coast FC’s 1-0 loss to Solomon Warriors FC in the first leg of the 2024 OFC Men’s Champions League at the National Stadium in Honiara, stating that he still took positives from the game.
“I am a bit disappointed with the result today (Friday, February 17), but there’s some positive that we take away from the game,’’ said Central Coast FC Head Coach Moli. “We have to work on some of the areas that the team needs to focus on before the second leg on Thursday, February 22.”
With the recent signings on the team, Coach Moli said that trust is what is needed on the field of play.
“What we need to do is trust everybody when we play. I think that is one of the holdbacks I see. It is a matter of how we can regroup and come up with something from the first game,’’ he said.
Central Coast made several attempts to level the game, but they missed some good chances. While Solomon Warriors FC striker Gagame Feni managed to take control of the game early on and score a penalty in the fifth minute of the match.
Solomon Warriors FC Head Coach Franco Ne’e has thanked his side for their hard work and commitment on the pitch.
He said that with their fighting spirit, the boys have managed to win their first match with a 10-man squad after the left defender was red-carded during the game.
“We are down with 10 men, but we are determined to win the game. We have trained throughout the months, so I want to give credit to my boys and those behind us for their support,’’ said Ne’e.
Going forward, to secure the advantage, the Warriors coach said that his boy’s needs to recover, seeing that the first encounter was very intense.
“I need my boys to recover; that is from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before the game on Thursday,’’ he said.
With the recent signings on the team, Mr. Ne’e said that they have faith, trust, and confidence in his team.
