SOLOMON Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) will be conducting open trials for male and female beach volleyball athletes, both open and under 19 years of age, starting this coming Friday.
The trials is carried following request by Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation (SIVF) President Morris Maitaki, as SINIS will be supporting their preparation for the upcoming Oceania Championships to be held in the Cook Islands.
Following on from the success of Beach Volleyball at the recent XVII Pacific Games, SINIS Executive Director Aaron Alsop said this is a great opportunity to continue to identify and develop Beach Volleyball talent in the country
“Being one of the top performing team sports in the country, there is a great opportunity to focus on development of youth players but also build more depth in the squad as we prepare for the Pacific Mini Games in 2025 and Pacific Games in 2027,” said Alsop.
“Beyond the 2023 XVII Pacific Games, SINIS has created a legacy for sports such as Beach Volleyball by having a designated facility with programs in place that can ensure sustainable success into the future. SINIS appreciates the confidence and trust placed in us through our partnership with SIVF and President Morris to collaborate on this program.”
Trials will be held this month January 2024 on Friday 12, Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 at SINIS Beach Complex between 3:30pm-5:30pm.
Athletes are kindly asked to bring their own towel and water bottle.
Water and snacks will be provided.
Athletes can register on the day.
