Lorah Maelosia, a Solomon Islands national weightlifter has lived up to her own expectations, she won three gold medals at the 2023 Oceania Youth, Junior & U23 championship and now aims to win more at the XVII Pacific Games 2023 in Honiara.
Lorah, 17, also won the Solomon Islands National Institution of Sports (SINIS) athlete of the month award (in October, 2023) for her commitment to attending all sport services recommended by coaches and High Performance Centre staff.
Inside the SINIS gym where the sound of clanging weights and cries of ambition and determination fill the air, Lorah said she is ready to make her mark as a weightlifting member of Team Solomons, representing the country with great pride and determination.
She told RAW SPORTS that she is confident in her ability to win medals for her nation at the 2023 Pacific Games and that she is prepared to compete.

The young athlete from Malaita province said, “I have been training hard for the games over the past few months and I am excited to compete.”
Lorah also expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped her along the way as she pursued her weightlifting career.
“First of all, I would like to thank my parents for their unwavering support—both in terms of financial assistance for my daily transportation to the Solomon Islands National Institution (SINIS), where I completed the majority of my training, and for their encouraging words every day.
She said, “Secondly, to my two weightlifting coaches, Jenly Tegu Wini and Wendy Hale, for their dedication as coaches who have helped me become the weightlifting athlete I am today, ready to compete for the country in a few days.”
The XVII Pacific Games 2023 begins from November 19 to December 2 in Honiara.
