SOLOMON Islands Para athletes recently competing in the Oceania Athletics Championship at Suva, Fiji, thank the nation’s support in their travelling, seeing them win two bronze and one silver medals.
Winning a Bronze in the ‘Seated Shot Put’ and also adding tally with a Silver medal in ‘Javelin Throw’ is Para athlete, Rose Lidia. While another Bronze medal was bagged by Breeze Pita in the ‘Seated Shot Put’.
Speaking to Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) MEDIA, Para athlete Rose Lidia express that despite being in their condition as a Para athlete is challenging, she thank the High Performance Centre programs and its Staff for continuously supporting them in training preparations.
“I give special thanks to out Para Athlete Coaches as well, for their efforts and patience to continue helping us Para athletes to train. Thank you, to all the continuous support for us team Para,” said Lidia.
Para athlete Breeze Pita in same sentiment also express that despite of challenges faced during the recent travelling to Fiji, he did not let such hiccups to affect his morale to compete.
“With sheer determination I put the obstacles behind to give my best representing Solomon Islands, as I hope to be a good example in sports for the future. With my achievement in shot put achieving a Bronze medal, I thank SINIS Staff and our Coaches for continuous support in training us. Thank you to the Lord and our family and friends for continuous support as well,” said Pita.
Undergoing ‘Review’ with the Para athletes today on their recent competition trip were SINIS Portfolio Three (Racquet, Aquatic, Target and Individual sports) Coach Developer Jimmy Luitolo and Wellbeing Lifestyle Performance (WLP) and Mental Skills departments, with the presence of Athletics Field Coach, Vincent Haga. The 2024 Oceania Athletics Championship was held at Suva from June 1-9, 2024, as Solomon Islands Para athletes had already returned to the country last Sunday.
