SOLOMON Airlines, Tourism Solomons, and Travel Solomons are proud to jointly announce the highly anticipated return of the FlySolomons Peace Marathon, set to take place on 30th August 2025 in Honiara.
This landmark event marks the revival of the Peace Marathon, originally launched in 2009 as a grassroots initiative aimed at promoting peace, wellness, and unity throughout the Solomon Islands.
Reimagined as a flagship sporting and tourism event, the 2025 FlySolomons Peace Marathon will celebrate national pride, unity, and international engagement. With a scenic route traversing the storied World War II heritage sites of Honiara, participants will journey from Tenaru School through Hell’s Point, Alligator Creek, Bloody Ridge, and Fighter One, offering a profound connection to the island’s historical legacy.
The marathon is timed to complement the 83rd Anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal, reinforcing the Solomon Islands’ reputation as the Pacific’s premier WWII heritage tourism destination.
“The Peace Marathon is more than a race – it’s a celebration of who we are and where we’ve come from,” said Mr. John Wopereis, Commercial Manager at Solomon Airlines. “We’re honoured to be the official naming rights sponsor and to help carry the Solomon Islands story to the world.”
As the official naming rights sponsor, Solomon Airlines will spearhead regional and international promotion of the event, showcasing its unwavering commitment to tourism development, cultural pride, and storytelling.
Tourism Solomons and Travel Solomons will join in driving awareness, participation, and support for what is expected to become one of the country’s most celebrated annual events.
The FlySolomons Peace Marathon 2025 will feature four race categories, designed to encourage broad community participation:
- 21km Half Marathon – Registration: $50
- 10km Race – Registration: $30
- 5km Race – Registration: $30
- 2km Community Fun Run – Registration: $20
Organizers expect over 1,000 participants from local communities and international visitors alike, reflecting the marathon’s inclusive spirit and strong emphasis on sport, heritage, and community.
“The FlySolomons Peace Marathon 2025 is set to become a cornerstone of the Solomon Islands’ annual events calendar, where remembrance, resilience, and regional unity take center stage on the world stage,” said Jenny Lobo, Marketing Supervisor at Solomon Airlines in a press conference with local Medias.
