The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Officers from White River Police Station, along with the RSIPF & Australian Federal Police Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP)’s Health, Wellbeing, and Community Engagement (HWCE) team, have stepped up to support the Tavuli Women’s Rugby 7s team—one of Honiara’s reigning champions.
RSIPF Supervisor, Sergeant Simaruth Loe, and RAPPP HWCE Advisor Kevin Shaw responded to a request from Team Tavuli for assistance with training and competition preparations.
The RSIPF and RAPPP provided branded singlets, water bottles, and rugby balls to help the players prepare for upcoming tournaments.
Team Tavuli is more than a winning side—it’s a platform for empowering young women with the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to succeed in sport and in life. Through this partnership, RSIPF and RAPPP are working to engage local youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen community ties.
At a handover event at White River Police Station, Advisor Shaw, a qualified international judo instructor, praised the team’s dedication.
He said, “Research shows that girls who play sports develop self-esteem, confidence, and resilience and learn to work in teams. These young women are an inspiration—and we’re proud, alongside the RSIPF, to back their journey both on and off the field.”
Team Manager William Sanga expressed his gratitude, saying the support would make a real difference in preparing the squad for their next challenges.
This initiative is part of RSIPF and RAPPP’s ongoing community engagement and crime prevention programs leading up to the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting. Upcoming activities will include sports events, community barbecues, and youth outreach programs designed to bring people together and build safer, healthier communities.
