Honiara will become a center for a sporting festival as 26 secondary schools in the country gather together to participate in the Solomon Islands Secondary Games 2025 from June 29 to July 4.
With the theme “Education, Health through Sport,” the sports event will bring together more than 3000 students to showcase their talents in the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.
The sports featured for the SISSG are Athletics, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Netball, and Rugby 7’s.
Preparations are well underway under the leadership of Chair Walter Diamana and his local organizing committee, who have overseen the planning, organizing, and managing of the upcoming SISSG for the past three months.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, with the support Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Ministry of Infrastructures, National Sport Council, Honiara City Council and Royal Solomon Islands the sport event designed to foster youth development, promote sport excellence, and enhance unity among students across the country.
It is an event aligned with our Government’s National Sports and Recreational Policy, and one which promotes our vision to enable sports as an industry, encouraging our children and youths to access opportunities for high performance and career paths, alongside their educational journey.
Chair of SISSG, Walter Diamana, calls on parents and the guidance of students across the country to come and support their children.
“We are looking forward to the participation of our secondary schools across the country to come together in sports through the theme “Education, Health through Sport,” he said.
Meanwhile, he acknowledges the stakeholders and business houses for providing necessary support and sponsorship towards the games.
