On 3rd December 2021, SINIS High – Performance joined Education Authorities (EA) to introduce the program’s Talent Pathways.
For the Talent ID program delivery aims to reach up to 350 students from 7 different schools each week during term time. This is estimated to reach a total of 10,000 to 12,000 students per year who will be undertaking the TID program with SINIS HP
SINIS HP Senior TID Coach Moses Aunama Jr explained to the EAs that the program complementing both in the formal and informal education classifications.
“It will not basically based on sports, but it includes creating career pathways and sports fundamentals in which finally students will be able to be part of it. The program will offer a dynamic approach to be fair and inclusive,” Aunama Jr stated.
He also highlighted one of the key approaches of the program – Talent Detection, where assessment is to be done on a specific setting outside of education institutions which will include; sport clubs, groups, communities etc………the prediction of the potential development of an individual’s performance in a particular sport over various periods of time.
The goal of the TID program is to support the National Federations with an underpinning program to their national squad and development athletes.
Selected students through the TID program will have the chance to go through a trial and then earn an Emerging Talent Scholarship (ETS) which will support the student athlete holistic development with the aim of preparing them for future national team representation.
SINIS has finalised plans to launch these programs that will roll out in 2022 with the first high school booking starting in January. Also a PE teacher’s workshop for all PE teachers in Honiara schools will be next for the HP TID Team.
