SOSA Rugby Club off session programme is the Divisional 7’s Series and the idea behind is to give opportunity for all the SOSA Club Rugby Players who are beginners and did not have the opportunity to participate in the recent MAN-UP and HRUA men’s and women’s rugby competition to have the experience of playing rugby and having a game time.
Also it is an opportunity for our 13 club members who had attended the recent SIRUF Match Officiating Training which was held on the 18th and 19th of August to be assessed and put into practice all the lessons that have been taught (Match officiating, Coaching, safeguarding, Leadership and Management etc.).
The Club had started its off season program, with the first Divisional Rugby 7’s fun day competition being held on the 7th of August 2021 at Tenaru School seeing Team Tahula came up top with 3 wins against Noabu, Tahula and Kirio.
The second Divisional 7’s series was held at Selwyn College with 2 games each Division and 1 game for the women’s team.
This round was a tough from the first one seeing all teams fighting to get their team names engraved on the Divisional 7’s Series Shield.
With only 2 games each Team Noabu manage to secure it’s place top of the table while Team Nellistead get a win against Team Holgate on the women’s game.
Despite the time and the tiring long drive all teams a more organised and improved from the first one.
“I think we need more finance to provide transport and provide lunch for everyone or to hire field in town so that we can have more games and to give more opportunity for new players and our referees”. Oaenau said.
He also added that this game really provides a strong team bonding within the team and the students from Tenaru and Selwyn College that SOSA Rugby Club creates a safe environment for both Male and Female players.
Meanwhile, Team Manager Mr Sivita said, “ The Club’s executive is working very hard to provide such safe environment and to provide opportunity for everyone and to improve more in the games ahead”.
He concludes acknowledging both schools and every single players with the executive in making the 1st and 2nd Series successful.
He also calls on the senior members of the Club for the continuous hearted support for the club.
