Young Tennis player, Junior John Kennedy Taufunu and other six tennis players will be leaving for Fiji this week to represent Solomon Islands competing in the Pacific Junior Tennis Championship.
Junior John Kennedy Taufunu will be playing in the Under14 category along with his teammate Margret Agi. Andrew Sanga, Pio Ruhasia, Yellana Constantine and Jen Tahunipue will be competing in the U12 category and Morgina Mae in the U16 category.
The championship tournament is a two weeks event starting on 10 September to 18 September.
Coach Doreen speaking on behalf of the players said their goal is to get those young players to get more exposure and confidence to compete in any upcoming future tournaments.
“I am confident those tennis players will do their best in the event and get more experience and confidence.
Junior John Kennedy Taufunu is 13 years of age and comes from Kwabu village in West Kwaio, Malaita Province.
He has represented the Solomon Islands in tennis since 2019.
The team will be leaving for Fiji tomorrow 6th of September and will return on the 20th of September.
