IT seems a frustrating start to Solomon Warriors at this year’s Telekom Super League match opener against VFresh Isabel United over the weekend.
The Warriors head coach Selson Molea blamed their 4-3 loss on lack of simple game-plan execution in the second half of Saturday afternoon on Lawson Tama stadium as the Isabel United led by Bartram Suri secured a remarkable first win in Honiara.
“The game plan we aim to structure did not work out the way I expected; we also missed the appearance of our key midfield striker, John Alick, who was sidelined due to an injury.
“So I think those are some of the contributing factors for our defeat, but I will try to look forward in our second game because this is just a start, so I can work on few areas that I need to work on,’’ he told Raw Sports.
Solomon Warriors are scheduled to take on Marist FC on Sunday 13 June (upcoming weekend) at Lawson Tama Stadium.
Isabel Vfresh United Head Coach, Bartram Suri admitted that to beat a mighty and experience team as Warriors is not easy.
“My boys were lucky to fight back as we went down by one goals difference, but yes I am proud to win the Telekom Super League (TSL) match opener.
“Our first victory is a significant step in developing Isabel United’s confidence in the competition. However, it’s just the beginning of a new season – and we need to work extra hard to iron out our weaknesses and build on our strength in our next match this weekend,’’ Bartram told Raw Sport.
Isabel United’s second match takes place on Saturday 12 June (weekend) against Honiara City.
