The West Kwaio Constituency Games officially concluded on Saturday, 20 December 2025, with a strong message of unity, discipline and hope for the future delivered by Women’s Representative, Ereminah Misiga, during the closing ceremony.
Speaking on behalf of women and parents in the constituency, Ms Misiga expressed her sincere appreciation to the Member of Parliament for West Kwaio Constituency, Honourable Claudius Teifi, along with the constituency accountant and office bearers, for organizing the tournament for young people.
“I want to sincerely thank our Honourable Member of Parliament for organizing this tournament for our young ones. We truly appreciate your effort in bringing sports and development to the youth of this constituency,” she said.
Ms Misiga also thanked all youths and teams who participated, encouraging them not to look down on themselves but to see sports as an important part of development.
“As a mother, I see sports as a form of prayer. Through playing together, you build good relationships, unity and understanding. This tournament brings us together as one constituency, not to fight or create enemies, but to strengthen our bond,” she said.
She urged youths who may be discouraged or standing aside to look forward to a brighter and more productive future, stressing that development should not stop with the tournament.
Addressing participants as they return to their communities, Ms Misiga emphasized the importance of appreciation, realism and good character.
“I do not want to see our young people return home discouraged. Instead, appreciate what you have achieved and look forward. Be realistic, be fruitful, and do not engage in corruption or behaviour that may discourage future sporting activities,” she said.
She further assured youths that they are the strength and future of the country, encouraging them to remain healthy and prepare themselves as future leaders.
“You are young people. Do not behave like old men or old women. You are the future leaders who will bring change to our communities and our nation,” she added.
Ms Misiga also acknowledged the organizing committee for their hard work in making the tournament a success.
On behalf of women, parents and the wider community, she thanked everyone who attended and supported the games, ending her remarks with a festive message.
“On behalf of the women’s representative, thank you all for listening. I wish you a Merry Christmas, and may God bless us all,” she concluded.
