The excitement is building as the Under 20 Secondary School Boys 15s Competition 2025 is set to kick off tomorrow, Friday, with Credit Corporation Solomon Islands announced as the main sponsor of the event.
The sponsorship agreement was officially signed on Friday, 29 August 2025, at the Town Ground Rugby Stadium conference room. Present at the signing were SIRUF CEO Alivereti Mocelutu, Vice President Moses Tepai, SIRUF staff members, and Credit Corporation Country Manager Ronald Prasad.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr. Prasad said the sponsorship reflects Credit Corporation’s long-term commitment to supporting grassroots sports in the Solomon Islands.
“This is Credit Corporation’s commitment and belief in supporting grassroots rugby for the long term,” Prasad said.
“We are helping build a pathway for future national pride and supporting the next generation.”
SIRUF Vice President Moses Tepai also expressed gratitude to Credit Corporation for stepping in to support this important youth initiative.
“We are blessed that Credit Corp came forward to sponsor this year’s high school 15s competition,” Tepai said.
“It is important for the future of our senior boys, and also for the younger players who will come through the system.”
Competition Launch and First Fixtures
The official opening ceremony will take place on Friday, 5 September at 3:30 PM, followed by the first match between Koloale High School and White River Community High School at 4:00 PM.
Matches will continue with St. Nicholas Anglican College taking on King George Sixth School on Sunday, 6 September.
Six Schools, One Title – Prize Breakdown
The tournament will feature six high schools competing for top honors, with attractive prizes on offer:
Team Prizes:
- 1st Prize – $10,000
- 2nd Prize – $8,000
- 3rd Prize – $6,000
- 4th Place – $4,000
Team Awards:
- Fairest Team – $500
- Most Improved Team – $500
Individual Awards:
- Best Backline Player – $200
- Best Forward Player – $200
- Rookie of the Tournament – $200
- Most Improved Player – $200
- Most Valuable Player (MVP) – $200
With financial incentives, national pride, and school spirit on the line, the 2025 High School Rugby Competition promises to be one of the most competitive and inspiring youth sports events in the Solomon Islands.
The tournament not only aims to promote rugby development in schools but also to build future champions who could one day represent the country at the international level.
