THE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure Development, Manasseh Maelanga promised the government’s continued support for the development of Football in the country.
The minister said this during the closing ceremony of the 2022 SolBrew Solomon Cup at Lawson Tama Stadium on Saturday 10 December.
This year’s football tournament signifies the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement’s (DCGA) commitment, support, and contribution towards the country’s early preparations for next year’s Pacific Games in Honiara.
Hon. Maelanga said that this year’s football tourney is an opportunity to identify potential footballers to represent the Solomon Islands in the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
He said as the countdown towards the 2023 Pacific Games is getting closer, the government is looking forward to supporting the country’s football teams in future football competitions like the President Cup and many more.
He said as a football-loving nation, the DCGA Government will continue to take pride and work closely with the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) in the development of football competition and infrastructure in the country.
