SOLOMON Islands national Rugby 7s training squad came in today for their initial High-Performance Athlete Induction process.
Part of the recently named 26 men’s squad was introduced to a high-level sports training course with High-Performance focus.
Players were tested in the different Strength & Conditioning areas and measured for the efforts required. They also discovered the services on offer at SINIS, benefits of recovery essential to the active contact sport – the Sports Med Clinic and Physio/Rehab
The Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) announced to host a 7s tournament in the coming months – to continue scouting for additional talents in the provinces to extend its training squad.
“It was an excellent session. For the first time the athletes are very motivated to train and achieve collective performances and looking forward to accessing more at the High-Performance level,” Rugby female coach Alice Barosi who is currently on coach development scholarship at SINIS commented.
“We were able to physically and technically test the players and see the areas to be improved for each of them. Fitness is what we have to work on.
“This institute will help the players a lot, especially in continuous preparations for next year’s 2023 Pacific Games.
The High-Performance staff are excited and looking forward to continue working close in developing one of the top sports in the country.
