The 12th session of the Melanesian SpearHead Group Sports Officials Meeting commenced in Port Moresby on Wednesday 12th November 2025.
The Solomon Islands delegation to the meeting was led by Mr. Jeffrey Sade Deve, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Solomon Islands highlighted the importance of sports tourism, sports promotion through the media platform, anti-doping and the significance of shifting MSG sports into an economic and business industry. Mr. Deve re-emphasized the need for MSG sports to focus on the developing pathways, connecting domestic preparations to regional and international sporting engagements.
Solomon Islands also reaffirm its commitment to the spirit of Melanesia and the need to enhance Melanesian sports through the social, economic and cultural aspects, believing, entrusting and recognizing our people with their unique diversity and potentials.

On the domestic level, Solomon Islands has the potential to elevate facilities management which in turn generate revenues and high-performance athletes that elevates sports development and standards in the country. The Ministry of home affairs continue to diversify its provincial projects as well as to ensure sporting facilities are accessible to our rural communities.
Recommendations from the issues raised by the Sports Officials will be perused and endorsed by the MSG Sports Ministers meeting on Thursday 13th November 2025.
Papua New Guinea is the host of the 4th Edition of the MSG Prime Ministers Cup and the Sports Officials and Sports Ministers Meetings. Fiji is the current Chair of the Officials and Ministerial Meetings. The meeting was attended by Senior Sports Officials from MSG countries, PNG, Fiji, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands. Due to unforeseen circumstances, New Caledonia did not attend this year’s session
