MORE than a hundred local athletes from nine provinces and Honiara will participate in nine sports with action starting today, Monday at this year’s Solomon Games 2023.
This year’s Games has been officially kicked off in Honiara and athletes will participate in athletics, 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, rugby 7s, canoeing/Va’a, boxing, and Taekwondo. The closing of this weeklong of sporting activities is expected to conclude this weekend.
Solomon Games 2023 organized by the Local Games Council opened at the Lawson Tama Stadium with a parade of the participating teams from Unity Square at Commonwealth Street to Lawson Tama Stadium.
Today’s schedule of games on the first day of the Solomon Games 2023 competition is beach volleyball, netball, indoor volleyball, and boxing.
All games are expected to kick off today at these specific times and venues:
- Beach volleyball at the SINIS B/Court starting 1 pm,
- Netball kicks off 1pm at Friendship Hall,
- Indoor volleyball starts 1 pm at the Friendship Hall
