THE Pacific Games 2023 Games Organising Committee (GOC) had officially announced its Silver Partner sponsor for this year’s Pacific Games.
Solomon Islands Postal Corporation( SIPC) was announced as the first major Silver sponsor to support the Games Organising Committee for this year’s 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
The Silver Partner Sponsor with a total value of SBD $ 2,000,000.00 was announced at the National Hosting Authority(NHA) conference room at Sea-King building.
The official hand over was attended by SIPC CEO, Mr Alfred Ghemu Kituru, Acting Board Chairman Mr James Apaniai, SIPC members, GOC Vice Chairman Mr Jasper H Anisi and Peter Steward CEO for GOC.
Speaking at the official handing over, SIPC Chief executive officer, Mr Alfred Kituru said despite of the challenges faced during the COVID-19, SIPC is proud to partner with the PG2023 GOC.
“Solomon Post is a provider of postal and delivery services, a provider of e-commerce, and and provider of financial services and we are happy to partner with the GOC and your various committee to ensure the Pacific Games 2023 a success for all of us.
“We assure you of our support and ready to participate in whatever we can,” said Mr Kituru.
Addressing GOC board members, the senior managers and executive of SIPC during the hand over, Acting Solomon Post’s Board Chairman, Mr James Apaniai alluded that Solomon post is very happy to be part of the silver category sponsorship.
He said the decision to involved in the sponsorship is basically propelled by the Solomon Post desire tor the games to become a successful event.
“Not only that but because we realize that the 2023 Pacific Games will be the biggest sporting event in the history of Solomon Islands and we believe it is the duty and responsibility of all individual citizens as well as corporate citizen of this country to come in and assist the GOC to fulfill what the Nation wants, that is to make the 2023 Games a success,” said Apaniai.
“We believe as our leaders are saying, we hope to achieve great, so to speak 40 gold medals in this game. It’s a big challenge but I think we have a lot of hopeful to achieve Gold medals in this game especially because we’ ll have our sports men and women back up from its population who will be here in the country.
Me Apania also said that he believe the country’s participation in the hosting of the games will be a bonus and beneficial to the nation as well as to the people and the Solomon post as well.
“It’s very important to be successful in hosting of this games because our overseas or international reputations hangs on that as well. If we don’t succeed it will also affect our reputation abroad as well as in the country. But I hope that we will be successful, not only in the medals that we hope to grab but also in attracting of tourists and other oversea visitors as a result of this games,” he said.
” I wish the GOC all the success in your endavour to make this event a successful one to promote the name of the nation,” conclude Mr Appainai.
In response, the GOC Board Vice Chairman, Mr Jasper H Anisi said 2023 has finally arrived, and the year the sporting event that our Solomon Islands have been anticipating and working hard to showcase to the region, is now at our shores.
“On behalf of the GOC board we would like to express our felt gratitude for this sponsorship for willingly partnering with the GOC in ensuring Solomon Islands deliver a memorable sporting event this year 2023.
“We welcome such a partnership as it is a reflection of a cooperate spirit, support and commitment. As our country state own enterprise, such a financial support and commitment will provide the financial security to GOC on behalf of SIG to deliver a memorable Pacific Games this year,” Anisi said.
He said the Pacific Games 2023 will be the biggest sporting event ever hosted by Solomon Islands with 24 countries to visit Solomon Islands shores in November this year.
He said these countries will compete in 24 different sports from 19th to the second of December 2023, a total of 14 days competition.
“As announced by the SIPC, Solomon Post has committed two million dollars in sponsorship towards the PG in Solomon Islands.We thank you sincerely Solomon post and your management for your support in recognition of this important sporting event,” Mr. Anisi said.
He said in recognition of Solomon Post financial contributions towards the games, SIPC will receive numerous benefits and rights associated with GOC PG2023 silver sponsorship platform.
“In closing, ladies and gentlemen, allow me to thank the board and the management of Solomon post once again for the sponsorship contribution. Let us challenge ourselves, celebrate in our diversity and unite in sport,” Anisi said.
