THE Solomon Islands Swimming Federation (SISF) has confirmed that the country will be represented at the 16th FINA World Swimming Championship in Melbourne, Australia from 13th to 18th December 2022.
SISF President Chrisleon Sanga confirmed this in a statement.
Swimming Head Coach Stance Sanga will accompany swimming top seed Edgar Richardson to the prestigious 25-meter event, with the state-of-the-art Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre as the host site.
“We have the pleasure of informing you that our Coach Sanga will be departing to Melbourne Australia this coming Friday 9th December for the 26th FINA world championship in Melbourne.
Edgar will be competing in the FINA short course championship in the 25m Pool event, where he will be aiming to beat his recent records at the world championship last year in Abu Dhabi – 50m freestyle (0:26:52 seconds) and 100m freestyle (0:57:90 seconds).
Coach Sanga will be officiating in the global event as an International Technical Official.
He will make up the team traveling from the FINA Development Centre of Thanyapura, Thailand via Singapore to Melbourne.
“We continue to thank the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) for the support towards our national federation in developing quality athletes and coaches. Also, the Sol2023 Games Organizing Committee (GOC) for the support in enabling our team to travel.
The event will gather more than 1,000 swimming athletes from over 180 countries for six days of world-class swimming action.
