The Table tennis Association confirms that they will include 60% of its players picked out from the recent National Secondary School Games.
During an interview with Table tennis coach Mr Kevin Olea recently, he said that the Table Tennis Association will pick out the players from the nine Honiara schools that participated Honiara in the high school games produces.
“Only 40% will be comprised of older players,” He said.
Table tennis coach said the table tennis Association with the invitation of healthy life style table tennis club President, Bobby Hudson and Vice President, Isaac Molelua-they will focus more on training the young talented table tennis athletes in preparation towards the upcoming games on September.
“Thanks very much to Healthy Lifestyle president Bobby Hudson and vice president Isaac Molelua for inviting the association in this forth nightly friendly sessions” he said.
He also thanked the female athletes who turn up, it was a good turnout.
A female athlete and a gold medallist on table tennis during the High school games of Betikama Adventist College, Ms. Shannon Sogavare said that though it’s tough, it’s good to have friendly matches with older professionals.
“I feel nervous as it is my first time to have friendly matches with such experienced players, but I really enjoyed it as part of my learning” she said.
“I look forward to take part in any upcoming championships” she said.
Meanwhile, Mr Kevin Olea said that currently, the association is looking forward to do friendly matches with schools in and around Honiara City.
