Honiara, 15th February 2022 – THE partnership between the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) High–Performance program and the Australian Catholic University (ACU) has continued with the significant delivery of telehealth consultations, despite the Covid – 19 community transmission experienced and restrictions in place.
This week ACU staff and students provided one on one Physiotherapy consultations for athletes, supported by SINIS High – Performance Physio & Rehab Coaches and staff from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program.
“Continuous collaboration with such highly regarded Sports Physiotherapists and Physio students from ACU continues to add value to the SINIS staff as service provision for athletes and coaches begin,” SINIS High–Performance Physiotherapist Hephzibah Karibule stated.
She continued that telehealth is vital to ensure athletes and coaches receive the services needed to improve their performance.
Hockey athlete Sally Hiro attended the Physio session and through her injury assessments, SINIS staff together with SINU CBR staff has received overwhelming feedback in terms of their professional capacity building.
“The staff continue to be excited about future collaborations and are committed to providing high-quality service to our athletes and coaches.
These sessions will continue this week on Thursday 17th February at the SINIS Sports Med Clinic.
These weekly professional development sessions are set to occur regularly throughout the year and SINIS continues to thank the ACU team for their invaluable support in supporting our staff, coaches and athletes.
SINIS calls on National Federations with athletes who are preparing for the upcoming Commonwealth and Pacific Mini Games to contact the sport medicine and physio team with names of athletes who are requiring any injury management support due to new or existing injuries from their training.
This support is provided for free through the MOU with the NF.
