Honiara, 3rd June 2022 – For the first time in the country’s history there is a new High Performance approach for Team Solomon, with the launching of SINIS in the country earlier this year.
Preparations are well underway with additional inclusions of athlete and coach workshops on top of the regular daily training to support those participating at the upcoming Pacific Mini Games.
A coach foundation workshop is being conducted by SINIS which is free for all coaches of Team Solomon and the National Federations, along with a series of HP education workshops covering key aspects of sleep, nutrition, recovery, injury management, wellbeing and performance planning.
Executive Director High Performance Aaron Alsop highlights the significant investment and support towards the coaches and athletes of all National programs, including Team Solomon, is setting a new benchmark and standard for how elite sport is being conducted in the country.
Alsop said, “Through the investment of the Solomon Islands Government, we are seeing an unprecedented level of support to national coaches and athletes. The performance services and programs for all national athletes and coaches, including those who have relocated from the provinces, are raising the professional standards for elite sport in Solomon Islands. We are breaking new ground.”
Alsop continues “SINIS performance staff are providing support at which has never been available in country before and has only ever been accessible overseas. Now we can offer it to the national coaches and athletes at home and for free through the High Performance program.”
SINIS is gaining attention from competitor countries across the Region with awareness of the new SINIS facility, programs and services gaining attention from International Federations and being promoted by athletes to their fellow competitors.
Recent feedback from a number of the National Federations who are gearing up for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games have shown their appreciation for the contribution the SINIS staff are making.
Although the NFs have expressed their disappointment SINIS staff are not included in the Team heading to the Mini Games in Saipan, they acknowledge that the support from SINIS is something they wish they had for many years prior.
With just over 2 weeks until Team Solomon leaves for Saipan, SINIS is continuing to open its doors 7 days a week to assist the coaches and athletes with final touches of their preparation. Already hosting the 1st team bonding of Team Solomon and another planned for next week, SINIS is certainly backing the efforts of NOCSI to ensure the country prepares the best team possible for the Pacific Mini Games.
Registration for coaches and athletes to any of the upcoming workshops can be done through the SINIS reception desk or Facebook.
