ROLLING out this week starting on Monday, Australian Defence Force is partnering with Rugby Australia, National Rugby League and Volleyball Australia in delivering a sports training program at Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS).
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Sports Program will run from October 7-12. The sports training program involves training of local referees and coaches in Volleyball, Rugby League and Rugby Union.
Following a welcome by ADF, SINIS and the local executives from each of the sporting codes in the country, participants started off day-1 of the ADF sports program with ‘level 1 coaching training for Volleyball, Rugby League and Rugby Union’.
Royal Australian Air Force Group Captain, Jay Clarke , who is part of the ADF team managing the program said it is an exciting opportunity for ADF to be involved in the sports in Solomon Islands.
“There will be a lot of practical stuff to be delivered throughout the week, so it is a great opportunity for participants to build their skillset in coaching, and refereeing as there will be some High Performance activities with the Rugby Sevens and Nines involving players later in the week” said Clarke.
SINIS appreciates the opportunity to be in conjunction with the ADF sports training program this week for the three sport codes especially to support coaches, referees and athletes. For SINIS, it is a relationship that strengthens sports development efforts because to use internationally recognized accreditations like those offered through ADF to better coaches and referees should be embraced.
