THE Solomon Islands Chess Federation will conduct an awareness session on psychosocial and intellectual benefits of chess in education.
Chess in Education is a commission within the International Chess Federation in which SICF is part of. In most countries throughout the world, chess is part of the school curriculum and has benefitted a lot of children and young people.
All Honiara schools are invited to send their Sports Master/Teacher and Assistant (2 participants per school) to attend this planned session. This will be held on Saturday 20th August at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports from 9 am to 1 pm.
In July 2021, SICF signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MEHRD for chess to become part of the school program. This will be covered during the session.
Schools are asked to submit the names of two of their participants on 7246165 and 7499172 by Thursday 18th August.
