DIESEL Women’s Netball Club, formerly known as Telekom Netball Club is gearing up towards this year’s Honiara Netball League Competition which is set for July.
The Club’s spokeswoman, Angela said they had resumed training as of this week.
“The league will kick off next month and now we are undergoing fitness training to keep fit for the upcoming event.
“The girls had turned up positively for their training sessions since Monday this week.
“Despite no proper training facilities such as netball court, we still managed to do our basics and I have seen a lot of improvement.
“Some of the basic drills we are doing include ball work, ball handling and passing including ball positioning and, so far so good,’’ she told Raw Sports.
She said the team’s main focus now is to make sure all players attend the training sessions to ensure members are all set and fit before the competition starts.
She added that the Diesel Women’s Netball Club (DWNC) has rebranded its name after recruiting new members and is now under the sponsorship of Diesel Company Limited.
The team is currently are using the Solomon Islands National University (SINU), Kukum Campus playing ground to conduct their training.
This year’s Honiara National Netball Championship will take place at SMI grounds opposite the Town Ground area and not the Multipurpose Hall. This is mainly due to the Covid-19 vaccination rollout currently ongoing at the Multi-Purpose Hall (Mini Field Hospital).
Angela now calls on team members to avail themselves at their training venue at all training sessions and she also thanked those who have shown their efforts towards their training since day one of this week.
