SOLOMON Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Vice President Robert Seni praised Futsalroos’ presence in the country as a testament to the power of sport in all aspects of life.
“To the members of the Futsalroos, welcome to the Solomon Islands! Your presence here not only enriches the sporting landscape but also serves as a testament to the power of sport in bringing people together from all walks of life,” said Robert Seni at the welcome reception for the visiting Australia National Futsal Team, Futsalroos, at the Mendana Hotel in Honiara on Monday, February 19.
The event, attended by football stakeholders, government representatives, Football Australia, and the Australian High Commission, marked the beginning of the PacificAus Sports Futsal Series 2024.
The SIFF Vice President also expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the growth of futsal in the region for their commendable dedication and commitment.
He noted that it is crucial to treasure the memories made, the friendships forged, and the lessons learned for the two nations as they set out on this friendly competition journey.
“As we embark on this journey of friendly competition, let us cherish the memories we create, the friendships we forge, and the lessons we learn along the way. May the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship guide us throughout the tournament, and may the bonds of friendship between our nations continue to flourish,’’ said Robert Seni.
From February 21 to 25, the national futsalroos of Australia and the national Kurukuru futsal team of the Solomon Islands will play a three-match international friendly series at Friendship Hall. The International Futsal Series matches will take place on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, February 21st, 23rd, and 25th, at 6 p.m. local time.
We gather together tonight, according to Robert, to commemorate the Futsalroos’ arrival in the stunning Solomon Islands.
“It is indeed a momentous occasion for our nation, as we welcome a team of talented athletes who embody the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and excellence.”
Mr. Seni said that the sport of futsal holds a special place in the hearts of Solomon Islanders because it serves as a platform for fostering unity, teamwork, and friendly competition.
“As we prepare to witness thrilling matches in the coming days, let us embrace the opportunity to not only showcase our hospitality but also to strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between our nations,’’ he said.
