KATARIO 11-aside men’s Soccer League at Northeast Choiseul is now in full swing.
The soccer preparations at Northeast Choiseul for the upcoming ‘Kuvojo Cup’ said to take place in September at Taro Station are expected to be completed by the end of August, as the league is still in ‘Round 1’heading for ‘Round 2’.
League matches are held every Thursday as the champion of the league will receive a 1st prize of $1,000.00 and a trophy (the Zakele Cup), $500.00 for 2nd, $300.00 for 3rd and $200 for fourth place.
It is understood that five soccer teams at Katario Ward representing Susuka, Kuma, Koloe, Soranamola and Kadova villages are participating in the league of ‘free registration’.
Though the boundary put for the league is said to be strictly only for Katario Ward 13 soccer teams to participate, seeing the extension of their boundary has seen the inclusion of ‘Lukuvaru and Kamaqa village soccer teams’, who were used to be seen as part of Ward 14.
During the opening parade of the league on July 7, former Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Katario Ward 13 Mr Ronald Zakele making the ‘opening declaration’ also declared a women’s league as well.
“A team to represent Katario will be selected from the men’s league in order to represent us for the upcoming ‘Kuvojo Cup’. Around the end of August their league should be completed, said Zakele.
