The official announcement of No1Currency’s Bronze Partner Sponsorship was made at a brief ceremony held in Honiara today (Friday 10th February, 2023).
Speaking at the event, No1Currency Business Development Manager, Rolland Hulanga said that the company is happy to partner with the Games Organizing Committee (GOC) in ensuring Solomon Islands delivers a successful Sol2023 Pacific Games.
“We are thrilled to partner with GOC under the Sponsorship Agreement to deliver a successful Games this year. Hosting an event as the Pacific Games is a huge undertaking and requires many helping hands to make it a success.
“No1Currency like other business houses is happy to support the Government’s effort through the GOC by provision of this humble sponsorship. We believe this sponsorship will help GOC organize and promote the event.
“It is indeed our privilege to collaborate with the GOC and the community to bring forth the Games so that all the athletes in the region can experience the best Games we can showcase the Pacific this year,” Mr Hulanga said.
Fexco Solomon Islands trading as No1Currency provides currency exchange and money transfer services through its six branches – three of which are in Honiara and the other three in Auki (Malaita province) and Munda and Gizo (Western province).
No1Currency Country Manager, Abel Viuru said, “In all our branches we provide currency exchange services, whereby customers come to buy and we sell foreign currency. We also provide money transfer service – through the popular Western Union.
“By partnering with GOC, we will be able to provide our services, and use our expertise and experience to assist our regional visitors when they come to town. They will have easy access to this important service during the Games,” Mr Viuru said.
GOC Chief Executive Officer, Peter Stewart welcomed the support No1Currency has rendered through its Bronze Partner Sponsorship, labelling it vital to the success of the Games.
“We are absolutely delighted that the Solomon Islands branch of No1Currency has come on board as one of our key partner sponsors. The role that No1Currency plays and will play in providing funds transfer services is vital to the success of the Games.
“We’re gona have probably in excess of 6000 to 7000 people visiting Honiara during the Games. Those people will all need to be able to transfer funds – to be able to spend money on gifts, mementoes from Solomon Islands, merchandize from the Games and just general things they need during the Games period. So, the ability for those athletes, team officials, broadcasters, media, to be able to easily access funds is something that is crucial to the success of the Games.
“We are very pleased that No1Currency is going to be partnering with us to provide those services at Games time,” Mr Stewart said.
Meanwhile, the Sol2023 Pacific Games will be held from November 19th to December 2nd.
