The Solomon Islands Amateur Boxing Association (SIABA) will stage the Pacific Boxing Challenge series this month.
The Solomon Islands Amateur Boxing Association President Patrick Moris told RAWSPORTS that the event will be held from 21st and 22nd June at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Honiara.
He said that the main aim of the Challenge is to build up our boxers as they prepare for the Pacific games.
“We held the launching of the Pacific Boxing Challenge series at Heritage Park with Fiji personals,’’ said Moris.
He said that the first series will be on Wednesday and Thursday 21 -22 June 2023 between team Fiji and team Solomon Islands.
“After this, we are also looking forward for more organised challenge into September before the big game,’’ he said.
The SIABA President said that a total of 20 Boxers from Fiji mainly military personals will fly over to Honiara test our Boxers over two nights of total boxing challenge.
“They will compete against our 26-selected boxers comprise of 20 males and six females,’’ said Moris.
He said that the Challenge will cover all the 10 categories (smallest to heaviest) to be played at the Pacific games this year in Honiara.
