The Solomon Island Paralympic team to Tokyo are still waiting for the National Government’s final confirmation to participate in the Paralympics games in Tokyo
Due to the Solomon Island COVID-19 regulations and the existence of state of emergency, and also the notice of the 36 hours Lockdown from the 29th to the 31st regulation, the SI Para team proposed flight out of the country on Friday 27 was cancelled and is waiting advice from the Authorities.
Nihal Seneviratne, President of the Solomon Island National Paralympic Committee when contacted, told Rawsports that he cannot reveal any as yet.
“We cannot confirm anything or our participation at the Paralympic games yet as we are waiting for a response from the Government to confirm if we are allowed to travel out of the country.
Two local Para-athletes who will be representing Solomon Islands are Jeminah Otoa and Solomon Jagiri.
Jeminah will participate in Taekwondo and Javelin events while Jagiri will compete in Taekwondo event only.
