Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) is calling on eligible players to register for the open trials for the national U-19 men’s team which will be open from Monday 9th to Friday 13th May 2022 at the SIFF Head office at Art Gallery in Honiara.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation in the current, the registration period at SIFF is to avoid hundreds of players congregating at Lawson Tama for the trials and also to help SIFF technical staff to check player eligibility against our database before the actual trial.
Interested players need to bring two required documents to get registered. The documents are a birth certificate or passport and vaccination card since only fully vaccinated players under the age of 19 will be allowed to join the trials.
SIFF will call the registered players for the trial outs which are scheduled to be held at Lawson Tama on Monday 16th May 2022 under the watchful eyes of coach Jerry Allen and SIFF Technical department officials.
Coach Allen and SIFF Head of High Performance and National teams, Felipe Vega-Arango have identified some eligible players from the national team and the Telekom S-League but the open trials are to give a chance to other potential players an opportunity to showcase their talents.
However, players need to be in good health and have good hygiene since a player who is having a habit of chewing betelnut and drinking is not encouraged to join the youth national team.
Players born from January 1st 2003 to December 2005 are eligible to sign up for the open trials.
A registration form can be collected from the SIFF receptionist from 9:00 am to 13:00 on working days next week.
Allen will select a training squad as Solomon Islands’s youth national team prepares for the upcoming OFC Under-19 Championship in August.
The OFC Under-19 Championship acts as a qualifier for next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup™ Indonesia in 2023.
