SPORT And Leadership Training (SALT) will commence its Futsal development and outreach programs for this year 2022 on Thursday 2nd June.
In an interview with Rawsport this week, leader and Member Pastor Seru said SALT will kick start the program at schools, communities, and provinces.
“Yes we are back with our programs at schools, communities, provinces and the bulk shop league in July to October for under 12-16 boys and girls,’’ said Seru.
He said SALT Ministry works in four ways, by providing leadership schools for coaches, schools of excellence in School and with the communities and provinces.
Their first program was supposed to be held at Aelaema community at NZ camp from Wednesday 1st June to Friday 3rd in the morning and afternoon however it has been postponed for Thursday 2nd June.
“I am in Fiji at the moment. My boys have recently completed the training venue today Wednesday 1st June in preparation for tomorrow. The program will start at 8:30,’’ he told raw sport.
He said that children from age 10 to 16 were encouraged to attend the program.
He posted on the SALT Ministry’s Facebook page that Covid-19 has affected their program and also their organised popular Bulk shop league.
“It has also affected our participation in the Australian Nationals in the past two years. We thank God that our international borders will reopen in July and the SI academic Year for 2022,’’ the post reads.
The Ministry also called on parents who want to develop their children in futsal to avail their children to Aelaema for tomorrow’s program.
“What a great opportunity to ride a futsal as a vehicle that takes us to the children and youth of SI to interact with them both physically, mentally and spiritually through sports,’’.
SALT is partnering with the National Football federation; former and current Kurukuru players who are members of the SALT ministry.
Last night (Tuesday31st) SALT was commissioned at Burns creek House of Praise in preparation for kick-starting their program at NZ camp tomorrow as well as for this year 2022.
Last year 2021 SALT had reached out to various schools in Honiara with the likes of Panatina CHS, Koloale, Lunga School, Mbokonavera, Emaus and Mbua-valley and communities in Honiara.
