Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) will be hosting a ‘Community Coaching Development Workshop’ on March 25, 2023.
To support the development and capacity building of coaches, SINIS will be conducting a FREE one-day workshop for all coaches from the provincial teams who will be visiting Honiara for the upcoming Solomon Games that will kick-off on March 27.
The workshop will be conducted by SINIS Coach Development team, as well as the National Scholarship Coaches from the different sports.
The workshop will include a range of topics around ‘athlete well-being and performance’ such as Talent Identification, Strength and Conditioning, Injury Prevention and Management, Recovery, Mental Skills, Nutrition and Hydration, Well-being and a variety of Coaching specific topics.
The workshop will be held at SINIS Conference Centre with registration at 8:30 am before starting at 9 am. The program is free for any coach from the provincial teams and registrations are essential.
SINIS Executive Director Aaron Alsop is excited to grow the depth of quality coaches in the country across all sports.
“As a National institution, SINIS welcomes this opportunity to host this program to support the many coaches from the provinces. We want to share the expertise and knowledge we have on sports and help grow an understanding of the principles that make up a successful sports program. Evidence shows us that the future of growth and sustainability in sports is based on the number of quality coaches we have in Solomon Islands across all sports in each province. Coach Development is essential to any successful program,” said Alsop.
“We will be sharing the same information we do now with the National programs to the provinces to help them have an understanding of what sport pathway models are and how they apply to us in the Solomon Islands. We also will have a chance to share more information on the SINIS REACH THE REGIONS program which will see us conduct SINIS programs, in partnership with the Provincial Government sports departments in each province.”
In addition, SINIS Coach Developer Jeffery Pasio said they want to draw Coaches in so that they can help them in their areas of sports in order to understand their roles during competitions and what to expect.
“So the course is targeted mainly for coaches who will be involving in all sports for the Solomon Games,” said Pasio.
