The three-day workshop is scheduled from 26 to 29 April at the King Solomon Hotel and it is organized by the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) with the support from the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS) to prepare local sports journalists in the country for the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.

The key facilitators of the workshop are Sports Journalist and Editor, Philip Lilomo, and Chairperson of Sports Journalists Association of Solomon Islands, and freelance journalist, Elizabeth Osifelo.
Meanwhile, the Media Association Solomon Islands (MASI) President Georgina Kekea said the workshop is vital for sports reporters to get prepared for the upcoming 2023 Games.
“The 2023 Pacific Games will be an important event in the country and so these workshops will be a help to prepare sports reporters towards this huge event and other big sports events to occur in the future.
“The three days’ workshop will bring together not only sports reporters but also other journalists reporting on different areas to bring about sports news in the country,” she told the participants attending the workshop.
The MASI President also thanked PACMAS for its support towards MASI with this initiative for journalists to do good coverage and report better for our people in the country including the Pacific and the world during the upcoming 2023 Pacific Games.
