The Talent Identification Department (TID) of Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) visited Lunga Community High School (CHS) yesterday specifically to identify students interested in weightlifting sport.
Solomon Islands national female weightlifter Jenly Wini along with the TID team conducted the program on which a total of 100 plus Lunga secondary school students registered and underwent trials.
As the TID team is trying to identify some potential weightlifters to undergo trial at SINIS, a few were identified out of the more than 100 students registering on which a date has been set for them to undergo trials at SINIS.
According to the TID team, they will undergo trials next week Tuesday.
Next week the TID Department will also proceed with more school visits to carry out programme awareness over the SINIS TID programmes, in order to engage with them in school bookings so that they can go and do weightlifting tests at SINIS.
“So, we will go out first and give out awareness on what is SINIS, more like a marketing program, book students and set a date on when these students will come and undergo trials,” said TID Department.
