THE Tutupalo 7 aside soccer challenge 2021 which was organized by the Beiporo school committee in Vella la Vella from the 6th of September ended in style on Saturday 11th, September 2021 at the Tutupalo soccer field. The soccer challenge was purposely organized to raise funds for a new school building at Beiporo village, ward 8, South Vella la Vella, Western Province.
A Total of around 27 teams from the surrounding communities participated in the week long tournament.
After a week of pool games, four teams made it to the semi-final. The first two teams that booked their spot in the semi-final were Deep Deep Blue Fc of Kolokolo Village and Habour Fc of Valapata village. The second two teams were Deep deep white Fc of Kolokolo Village and Sinei Green Fc of Beiporo Village.
In the first Semi-final match on Saturday 11th, September 2021, Deep Deep blue Fc and Habour Fc battled it out for a spot in the grand final. Habour Fc with the likes of former Bilikiki Beach soccer player, Kiven Koipala, showed their clash but could not go pass a well determined Deep Deep Blue as their sneaky captain, Joke Boaz brilliantly scored the only goal in the second half to see the hopes of Habour Fc coming to an end. The match ended in a 1-0 win for Deep deep blues Fc to book their spot in the grand final.
In the second Semi-final match of the day, Deep Deep white Fc took on Sinei Green Fc. Sinei Green Fc was led by the Western Kikio’s beach soccer player, Diver Atani whilst Deep Deep white Fc was led by Captain Henry Kala Sevo. This was the main match of the day which showed a lot of entertaining skills that really amazed the spectators and supporters who came by to watch their village teams. The match after full time ended in a nil all draw. So they went on for extra time. In the second half of the extra time, Scotty of Deep Deep White Fc skilfully scored a well taken set piece to book his team’s spot in the grand final.
The loser’s final was somewhat not played as the two teams decided to share the third price due to other unforeseen circumstances.
The main grand final match showed two kolokolo Village teams, Deep Deep Blue Fc & Deep Deep white Fc into the field of play. The two brother teams showed great sportsmanship as they battled in the head-to head clash. The match ended with a 1-0 where Deep Deep Blue Fc became the champions of the tournament whilst Deep Deep white Fc came second.
In an interview with Deep Deep blue Fc’s captain, Joke Boaz, he pointed out that “there are a huge number of home based raw talents and organising such events or soccer challenges gives them the opportunity to display their skills and talents as well as it keeps away youths from involving in drugs and other unwanted activities”.
Deep deep white Fc’s captain Henry Kala Sevo also highlighted that scooping the second place price is a great achievement for his boys and it is the result of good discipline and a well-executed game plan.
Deep Deep blue Fc were also the champions in a recent Beach Soccer Challenge on the same grounds of Tutupalo, Beiporo Village.
The organizers of the event were also grateful and expressed their joy to all teams that came by to support the soccer challenge.
