SOLOMON ISLANDS Golf Development Officer and Coach, George Rukabo said they are continuing their normal training and they are yet to name a training squad.
Rukabo said there is a mix of 10 males and females who are currently doing their normal practices at the Golf Course in Honiara.
“We are still doing our normal practices every day while waiting for the National Federation to confirm when to start preparing ahead of the 2023 Pacific Game next year.
He added that they are still maintaining their normal practices and competitions.
“With our practices so far, I see that our athletes are doing fine,” he said.
“As a Sports Development Officer and Coach, so far we doing fine, we have good athletes that just need to work extra hard,” Rukabo said.
He said that they need to work extra hard with their practices while waiting for the training squad for the 2023 Pacific Games to be named.
“I can say that our goal is to win gold medals in the 2023 Pacific Games.
“I urged our athletes to work hard so that we can achieve our goal in the Pacific Games next year.
“So far, I have already drawn a six months training program but will have to wait for National Federation (NF) to call every player to come together for training.
“But I can say that the training of each athlete and their scoring every weekend is looking very positive.
“If we come together as a team then I will look for the strength and weaknesses of the team and from there I can further design the type of training the team can follow.
“With the previous practices we have so far from last year and also this year, we are hoping to win medals for golf come the 2023 Pacific Games next year.
He told RAWSPORTS that hopefully, they will soon start the team’s preparation ahead of the games next year.
