One of the country’s very own Archery athlete Dorris Laula is urging all athlete in all sporting codes not to give up with their trainings.
In an interview with Rawsport, the 32 year old said that to have an aim for the PG2023 games, athletes should continue with their daily trainings indoor or wherever possible since all sporting events are disturbed by the covid-19 outbreak in the country.
Mrs Laula who is slowly engaging on how she would continue with her daily trainings said that one of the challenges faced by Archery athletes is a training venue which is not available at the moment because of the COVID measures imposed.
“Sometimes I do my trainings with some of my fellow archers at the Woodford School Sports ground and also at the Panatina Pool side, but it’s not really good, since the distance was too short,” Laula said.
She said that with her two kids, she was not able to continue with her own trainings daily since she have to look after her children from the contagious virus.
The Temotuan said that she love her Archery sport.
“My love towards archery is based on how good I am at shooting, when it missed, it gives me a challenge to try and perfect the shot. When my shot hits the target, it shows how I improved and that needs to be maintained through our daily trainings.
Laula has represented Solomon Islands in archery sport in some of overseas tournament including the Samoa Pacific Games in 2019 but she was unlucky to scoop a medal.
According to their schedule, the Archery Federation is likely to kick-off their trainings on 26th of this month, February 2022.
