TWO of the country’s female Weight Lifters have successfully completed in the Commonwealth 2022 Weight Lifting qualifiers online competition held in Honiara.
The initial competition was recently held in Singapore on Sunday 27th February.
Jenly Wini Tegu competed in the female 55kg category while Mary Kini in the 59kg competition.
The Solomon Islands Weight Lifting Federation General Secretary Apollo’s Saeg confirmed to Rawsport in an interview that the two female weight lifters were amongst other four international athletes that could not manage to travel to Singapore due to COVID-19 restrictions measures.
“Our athletes were amongst other four international athletes that were not able to travel to compete in the Commonwealth competition in Singapore due to covid19 restrictions measure being imposed by their respective countries,” Apollo’s Saeg said.
He said that the results and feedback of the competition will be announced once it is ready.
In the meantime, Jenly tegu Wini thanked SI Weight Lifting Federation and other stakeholders for making sure they join the competition successfully.
