Honiara, 31st May 2022. The Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) Wellbeing & Lifestyle Performance (WLP) service wants to be part of the solution in assisting athletes and coaches to make successful financial decisions – as it is a critical part of an athlete’s transition in and off the field.
With the program’s latest shared partnership with the Bank of South Pacific (BSP), a Financial Literacy open workshop will be organized on Tuesday 7th June 2022 at the SINIS High-Performance center.
The workshop starts at 9:00am to 1:00pm.
This initiative will also prioritize athletes and coaches who will be participating in the 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Mariana.
According to team BSP, there will be a short PowerPoint presentation on the topic and account opening registrations – an opportunity for athletes and coaches on financial concept accessibility.
It will be a first of its kind to be introduced in the High-Performance program and WLP Coordinator Paul Taka said his team is anticipating the support.
“We’re thrilled to have BSP on board with this partnership, and we are eager to help athlete/coaches learn about financial matters as we believe in a holistic development approach,” Taka said.
“It is critical that athletes/coaches learn about the basics of financial literacy.
